Eugene restricts his practice to insurance defence litigation, involving primarily property claims such as fuel oil tank failures, heavy equipment and component failures and fire loss litigation. He also defends municipalities in a wide variety of situations including flood claims, allegations of negligent police investigation and building inspection, and a variety of personal injury matters.

His wide range of litigation experience has led to his appearance as trial and appeal counsel before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Professional and Community Interests

Eugene frequently attends continuing legal education programs offered by The Advocates’ Society, Canadian Defence Lawyers and the Law Society of Ontario involving topics such as advocacy and trial tactics, expert evidence, insurance coverage disputes and motor vehicle legislation.

He has successfully completed both the Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop through Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto and the Defense Trial Academy sponsored by the International Association of Defense Counsel in Boulder, Colorado.
